That's in part due to some key elements of the class: a small group (there were only five of us and everyone was very welcoming) and a great instructor. And I'm not just saying that because she might be reading this. (Hi, Bridget!) She was super nice, very helpful, and really encouraged each of us to take things at our own pace and ask for help if needed.
The room was 105 degrees but honestly didn't feel that hot to me. Maybe that was because it's only 30 degrees or so outside these days. Throughout the hour long class, I only drank 20 oz of water which surprised me. I'm a heavy sweater (and a salty one at that) so I'm thinking it's all part of getting back into a routine. As far as the yoga goes, I feel confident saying that I did a fair job. Maybe even a good job for only my third class. I've always been one to not like a workout unless it makes me sweat -- after all, if you don't finish a workout sweaty, you feel like you haven't done anyting -- or maybe that's just me :-) Suffice it to say, I could feel the heat stretching my muscles and even clearing out my sinuses...gosh darn allergies. And I have a desire to get better and conquer the poses I can't do. I can't wait to go back!
For those 'burghers reading this blog, Bridget teaches hot yoga on Tuesday at 6:45 PM at Glow Fitness Studio on Washington Road in Mt. Lebanon. She also teaches Hip Hop Yoga (also at Glow) on Sunday at 9:30 AM. Both classes are an hour long.
After class, hunger set in, which reminded me that I haven't been posting my meals yet! Here's what today looked like:
*One cup of Kashi Go Lean with fresh organic raspberries
*16 oz skim latte from Coffee Tree (this is a constant for me!)
*Grilled Chicken Breast (somehow I managed to set off the fire alarm while cooking this, but that's another story...)
*Salad of arugula, EVOO, cracked pepper, goat cheese and homemade hummus
*Fried tofu with sweet soy sauce, peanuts, sesame seeds and cilantro
*Side of bean sprouts
*One cold Blue Moon (it's too hard to resist sometimes!)
*Handful of dark chocolate covered espresso beans from my homemade trail mix
*Plenty of water all day long...today I drank 96 oz before heading to yoga
Hope you all had a GREAT day and were able to sweat things out for a bit!!
