Not long ago I shared the news that I wouldn't be running the Pittsburgh Half Marathon due to an up-in-the-air heart condition. Fortunately for me, I had a fantastic appointment with the Co-Director of the UPMC Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center and following another EKG, I have been cleared to run!
Just not an ultra-marathon. But I don't think anyone was worried about that ;)
We are still awaiting the results of my dad's blood work and next steps for me from there, but I am thrilled that my heart is currently working well and that I shouldn't have any (major) fears when working out and running. After all, it's always good to know you most likely won't keel over at any given time!
The course looks especially awesome and I am excited to see what quality race lululemon produces. I have high expectations considering they are based in Vancouver, and so far they're meeting them by sending me these awesome training shorts just for registering by a certain date. Sweet!
Lululemon also created a free training app specifically for the race and while I did download it, I don't think I'll be using it. It's very yoga-heavy and while I do enjoy a good yoga session, it's not something that I am comfortable making a large base of my training at the moment.
Now it's time to quit reading my blog - get out and celebrate National Running Day!
