On The Move, Eh?

So I've been thinking long and hard about this post and have come to the realization that it's not going to write itself.  I've been thinking of ways to make this funny, and how best to break the news, but really...I've got nothing.  So here goes.
Picture
Let me back up and start with the basics.  We're making the move as a family of four and we'll be settling in Edmonton.  And let me go ahead and help you out because NO ONE knows where Edmonton is.

And next you're probably wondering: what on earth is taking us to Canada?  Well, my super smart and hardworking husband (hey, I'm allowed to brag every once in a while) was offered an amazing project management job that we couldn't pass up.

We'll be in Pittsburgh through mid-July and then we'll be trekking up north.  My hope is to find an awesome house (and great neighbors) so that we can do this.

For real.  I mean, how awesome is that? The dogs would LOVE IT (um, probably not) and in the summer it can become a pool.  I see nothing wrong with this at all.
There's a ton of other things that I want to tell you guys so apologies in advance for all of the upcoming Canada-themed posts.  As a parting gift, I'll leave you with something that caught my eye on Facebook yesterday.  So true, right?

Any advice for me with the move?
Anything you you want to know about Edmonton or Canada in general?
Do you have experience moving to another country?
You think we're crazy, huh?
Tell, tell, tell in the comments below!

I think you should do a follow-up post on some fun facts on Edmonton or things its known for. What's the weather like up there compared to a place like Minnesota?

Yes, it's true! I was hoping to tell you in person but I haven't been in Chicago recently. But, mark your calendar, I will be there from June 18-20 so hopefully we can catch up! And unfortunately, no, I will not be the Edmonton branch of the FH Calgary office. Going to take some time off and figure out what is next in life! Maybe I will just devote all of my time to Ironman training...you can come visit and coach me :)

Oh my gosh what a loss for Pittsburgh! But very cool that you're moving closer to where I'll be :) (Let us know if you ever want to enjoy more than a layover in Denver) I can't wait to read up on all your adventures up North! Just think of all the cute new cold-weather gear you'll get to stock up on (check out Patagonia's web deals for some great coats for half price)!

As for moving tips:
1. If S's company isn't paying for the move, tell Don Farr or Allied (if you are using a moving company) that you are affiliated with UPMC. They don't need any verification and will take 63-67% off the cost of the move. Seriously.
2. If you are staying for a few years you may want to consider dual citizenship. Handy for traveling (getting Visas in particular).
3. I have a triathlete friend up there (she's younger, but will totally know the scene)- let me know if you want me to set you two up :)

My position is one year but I'm already thinking that we'll stay longer based on what we've seen and read- it just seems like paradise! I also have a message into my friend, she is in college (she was one of the youth I lead through the Amazon) so she won't be much help with housing but she is super up on the workout scene and will be able to connect you with any race, adventure and retailer you'd want :)
