To make this delicious breakfast/lunch/dinner (I won't judge) I started with two slices of seven-grain bread from the local Bee Bell Health Bakery. While you don't need to use seven-grain bread, I would recommend a fresh, heartier bread to soak up your egg wash and flavoring. Plus, I just think fresh bread goes a long way. While heating up some butter in my frying pan on the stove top over medium high heat, I dipped each piece of bread in a wash of to beaten eggs with a few drops of vanilla and a couple shakes of cinnamon. I didn't really time the cooking, but rather just watched each side until they were a light brown and cooked through. I plated them and topped them with a small bit of local Canadian maple syrup.
For the bananas, I started with one whole rather ripe banana. I sliced it in half and then cut each half into two vertical strips. I re-used the pan from the french toast and again melted some butter over the same medium high heat. I rolled each piece in some brown sugar and placed the pieces into the fan for about three minutes per side. Once done, I topped my french toast and dug in!
Question: What is your favorite breakfast treat? Do you make a different version of banana french toast? I also love my Banana Split Pancakes, but they're a bit more of an indulgence.
