If you've read my blog before, you know that certain foods do NOT cooperate with my body. Although I haven't been diagnosed with full-blown Celiac Disease, gluten is no friend of this body! After giving gluten up as part of my Lenten sacrifice, I had hoped that my body would react well and help prove that gluten is something I shouldn't consume. Now that Easter has come and gone, I can officially say that it doesn't seem to matter what I eat or do. Sometimes my stomach just flat-out doesn't agree with me!
I'm therefore deciding to take a different approach to eating and exercising for the next month or so. A role-reversal, if you will. For the next 2 weeks, and possibly up until my bike ride from Banff to Jasper in mid-May, I'm throwing in the towel (so to speak)!
Au revoir, seaweed crisps, apples and organic snap peas as snacks!
Sayonara, spinach & kale salads and black bean lentil soups for lunch!
So long, salmon and roasted veggies for dinner!
Peace out, fruit salads for dessert!
This girl is pulling a 180!
I know it sounds crazy, and I know it won't be easy, but at this point, I'm willing to try ANYTHING to see how my body reacts. Fortunately, with the support of my family, friends and training partners here in Edmonton, I know I'll be able to get right back into the swing of things in time for my races this summer. In fact, my real hope is that a little bit of down time and a bit of a step back will make my triathlon training an even bigger challenge, and therefore even more rewarding when I cross that finish line! It's worth a shot, right?!?!?
What are your favorite ways to just take a break from it all and be lazy?
Has your significant other ever hijacked your blog for the sake of an April Fool's Day joke? ;)
